I booked a service call for my dryer since it stopped working while in the middle of the drying cycle. After the inspection, the technician told me the problem was either the timer or the star switch, with repair quotes of $452 and $703 respectively.
During the inspection, I specifically asked whether the thermal fuse could be the issue. The technician told me it was checked and it was working fine.
Because the repair estimate seemed very high, I decided to get a second opinion and I am glad I did. The second technician diagnosed the problem correctly: the dryer needed a new pulley and a thermal fuse. The replacement parts cost me less then $100, and the dryer worked perfectly after they were replaced. I am glad I didn't go for the unnecessary expensive repair which could not resolve the issue.
I do not recommend anyone to use this company based on my experience. I suggest getting a second opinion before proceeding.
